The main goal of your co-op is to introduce you to the type of tasks that you would be doing if you continue in this career. For example, if you study psychology, you could end up with a co-op position in a hospital research lab where you would help participants in a study, collect data, and draft papers. You would join a company that does work in your field of study. Each school has a list of approved companies and organizations that they are partnered with to provide students with co-op placements.

Depending on your school, you can find a co-op position outside of their list, but the placement must follow the school's standards and requirements of a work term to be approved.

Under Drexel's academic plan of study, students attend classes full-time their first year. Then, depending on their academic program and co-op option, they alternate six-month periods of full-time study with full-time employment at University-approved employers. Drexel's academic calendar is based on a quarter system, and a student's co-op cycle determines which quarters they will go on co-op. Co-op cycles are typically assigned during freshman year. Available to most majors and programs, this option includes three individual six-month co-op experiences beginning in the start of a student's sophomore year, providing an additional 12 months of professional work experience.

To see which co-op options are available for your program, view Drexel's Undergraduate Majors.
