Where is baum lake

There were a couple fallen trees that were blocking part of the path, as well. I wish the trail was a little more clear so I could make it to the end and back with a little more ease.

Make sure to wear good hiking shoes, as there are many holes, large rocks, and plants that can easily cause injuries without proper footwear. The route actually goes up the west side of Baum Lake. And there is poison oak alongside the trail. From Baum it is 3. If you have 2 cars, you can park one in the Baum parking lot and the other at Hwy and Cassel Rd. The trail is very well marked with the PCT placards on trees. We did this after a snow and had no trouble navigating.

There is a Bald Eagle family living atop a large pine as you walk along the lakeside before the trail rises and leaves the lake. About 10 minutes into the hike, look for a thick trunked dead tree that looks to have fell many years back and only the bottom half remains standing.

From that tree looking north, the next few tall trees will have the eagle. I have fished this lake for more than 10 years in the winter months and the eagle is always around someplace.

Baum is a stellar trout lake in the winter Dec-Mar. Solid oak cabinets throughout, wood floor in kitchen and dining area. Master suite has cultured marble shower, dual sinks, walk-in closet plus office with slider to back tiered deck. Wrap around floor plan with a bright and airy kitchen.

It makes sense that fly anglers would have the advantage here, but not necessarily so. See Reason 1. Think of the Baum Lake Parking lot as the center of this universe. From the honey-hole below the powerhouse the water shoots down a straightaway with few fish in it, then makes a left-handed U-turn.

Once around that corner just east of the parking lot, great fishing water literally surrounds you again. The current collides with the parking lot before heading back downstream again, and fish stack up on the eastern side to intercept whatever food the current is carrying.

To the west of the parking lot is a levy and small concrete structure where a large spring called Crystal Lake drops in. The water between the levy and the parking lot is also stacked full of trout, usually feeding. As the currents on both sides of the parking lot converge down below, every bit of the water between here and the island downstream is loaded with trout. You don't want to miss paddling this remote lake.

It is an ideal spot for canoeing, kayaking, and fishing or just kicking bak and enjoying the fresh air!. The Ultimate Paddlers Guide. Map of Baum Lake.
